Summary of Quebec Region Employment Outlooks by Subsector

A table showing the employment outlooks by sub-sector for Quebec.  For the province’s bio-economy as a whole, there was a 4.1% increase in employment from 2019 to 2020. Employment is projected to rise to 57,500 workers by 2020, to 58,600 by 2024 and to 59,500 by 2029.  For the bio-health sub-sector, there was 7.0% increase in employment from 2019 to 2020. Employment is projected to rise to 34,500 employees by 2020, to 35,100 employees by 2024 and to 36,000 employees by 2029.  For the bio-industrial sub-sector, there was 3.5% increase in employment from 2019 to 2020. Employment is projected to rise to 14,100 employees by 2020, remain at 14,100 employees by 2024 and rise to 14,300 by 2029.  For the agri-bio sub-sector, there was 3.5% decrease in employment from 2019 to 2020. Employment is projected to drop to 5,300 employees by 2020, rise to 5,600 employees by 2024 and to 5,700 employees by 2029.  For the bio-energy sub-sector, there was 6.8% decrease in employment from 2019 to 2020. Employment is projected to drop to 3,600 employees by 2020, rise to 3,800 employees by 2024 and drop to 3,500 employees by 2029.
