Job Description

The Regional Clinical Manager (RCM) is an essential part of the Clinical Applications Team and will be one of our “face to the customer” personnel at our key accounts. The primary responsibility of the RCM will have oversight of their respective region’s Clinical Application Specialist(s) and current customer install base. The Regional Clinical Manager will help utilize his/her expert product knowledge to provide onsite clinical and technical guidance/support during planning and surgical procedures with the Clinical Application Specialist(s). Additionally they will provide all of the onsite training and will passionately teach customers how to use all of the features of our products. Their expert knowledge, caring attitude and professional presentation skills, will enable customers to comfortably use our devices and software. The ideal candidate will be independent, self-motivated, and results oriented, with a positive attitude and a highly personable and energetic presence. They’re also not afraid to “roll up their sleeves” when needed to setup equipment as necessary. Lastly, they are passionate about Synaptive Medical’s vision and with providing the best possible training and clinical support to the customer. As part of the larger Synaptive Medical team, the Applications Specialist is a fundamental contributor to improving the quality of our products by reflecting the customer’s experience with feedback to Engineering and Design.

Education & Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong customer service skillset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to bring customer satisfaction situations to a successful completion in a timely manner

Highly Beneficial

  • Prior experience with training on use and applications for medical equipment
  • OR background
  • MR and intra-operative modality experience Beneficial
  • Experience working with software for medical applications, PACS, DICOM
  • Experience with Optics, Navigation and Robotics

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are a must

Someone who loves to collaborate with everyone in the company and wants to work with all departments to improve our products and processes. They should have the “where-with-all” to anticipate customer needs. Lastly, they must always be positive and optimistic.


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Manager Clinical Application Specialist(s) with the assigned region
  • Communicate and enforce company policies within the region
  • Provide team building and support for Synaptive Medical clinical(s)
  • Provide clinical and technical support for all procedures involving Synaptive products
  • Deliver all onsite training programs to direct customers and OEM partners
  • Support the Sales organization by conducting product evaluations at new and existing sites
  • Represent Synaptive at trade shows, exhibitions, and continuing education courses
  • Work with key surgeons to provide customer feedback to Synaptive design and engineering
  • Prepare performance reviews for all direct reports

Technical Tasks

  • Setup, test and install computers and other Synaptive equipment as needed
  • Work with hospital IT staff to test/enable connectivity in the OR
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems as they occur

Non-Technical Tasks

  • Professional and effective teaching and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and make independent decisions while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to work with the hospital team in the OR and adapt to changing plans and circumstances
  • The ability to be flexible and manage time effectively is important while incorporating an irregular travel schedule. The candidate will be required to travel on short notice to U.S. and other international destinations.
  • The position will be travel intensive, encompassing 80+% of the candidate’s duties. Thus, a valid Canadian or USA passport is required.
  • Provide reports on customer visits and for service records, as needed
